Family OS is designed to help coordinate your household. We collect and store:

- Child passcode (4-digit PIN, stored securely)
AI Interactions
If you use the AI Assistant feature, we may store:
- Your questions and queries
- AI-generated responses and briefings
- Interaction timestamps for service improvement
Device Information
We automatically collect certain device information:
- Device type and operating system version
- Unique device identifiers
- Push notification tokens (for delivering notifications)
- App usage analytics (anonymized and aggregated)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve Family OS services
- Process and complete household coordination tasks
- Send you notifications related to tasks, events, and invitations
- Deliver AI-powered features and daily briefings
- Process subscription payments through Apple App Store and Google Play Store

AI Providers
- If you enable AI features, your queries may be processed by OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Groq depending on your configuration
- AI interactions are logged for service improvement but are not used to train AI models

- Within Your Household: Household members can see shared tasks, calendar events, and routines within their household
- Service Providers: We share data with third-party services listed above to provide our functionality
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental request
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred
5. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Family OS supports child accounts with limited functionality. We are committed to protecting children's privacy:
- Child accounts are created by household administrators (parents/guardians)
- Child accounts have restricted access to age-appropriate features only
- Child accounts cannot make purchases or access AI features without parental consent
- We collect minimal personal information from child accounts
- Child accounts are linked to the household and can be managed or deleted by parents
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services:
- Account Data: Retained while your account is active and for 30 days after deletion request
- Household Data: Retained while you are a member of a household
- AI Interactions: Retained for up to 90 days for service improvement
- Analytics Data: Anonymized and retained indefinitely for aggregate reporting
7. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information:
- All data is transmitted using TLS 1.3 encryption
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with salt
- API tokens are generated using Laravel Sanctum
- Database access is restricted and encrypted at rest
- Regular security audits and updates
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data and account

9. Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time through the app settings or by contacting us. When you delete your account:
- All personal information is permanently deleted within 30 days
- Household data is removed unless other members remain
- AI interaction logs are anonymized
- Analytics data remains in anonymized aggregate form

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the app and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Family OS after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
